Cargo Variant

The ATR all-freight version offers the unique capability to meet specific Regional Cargo Market requirements.

Two main variants are available to provide alternative solutions for various operational needs through the addition of various modification modules.
Alenia, original manufacturer of the ATR fuselage, is in charge of for the conversion design, and Aeronavali, Alenia subsidiary, is the selected outfitter.

Main features:

  • Optimized volume and payload capability for bulk operation: a wide range of payload (5.3 to 8.6 tonnes) and usable volume (56 to 75 m3)
  • Unique standard containers capability in the regional market
  • Active second-hand market with opportunities for low cost, early serial number a/c for replacement of obsolete 5 to 9 tonnes freighter fleet
  • Low operating cost

Bulk Freighter (Tube Versions)

To fully optimize payload and volume capabilities, ATR has developed a dedicated bulk freighter conversion program, available for both ATR 42 and ATR 72.

ATR Bulk Freighter version offers a cabin that is dedicated entirely to bulk cargo carriage. Freight is loaded from the front left hand cargo door and is partitioned by nets.

The cargo conversion involves:

  • Complete stripping of standard furnishings
  • Floor reinforcement
  • Class E cabin
  • Window plugs and addition of specific cargo equipment: light lining, or structural lining and 9 g vertical nets, with six additional longitudinal tracks allowing flexibility for net attachment positions.

The resulting platform maximizes payload capability for bulk freight operations. The gross usable volume is 56 m3 for the ATR 42 and 75.5 m3 for the ATR 72 model.

The ATR Cargo conversion is certified through a STC released by the Italian Certification Authority (ENAC) and is compliant to FAA and JAA rules.

ULD Freighter (Large Cargo Door)

Accommodating standard ULDs (such as LD3 containers or 88” x 108” pallets) gives cargo regional and feeder operators a strong competitive edge.
The installation of the LCD module on an ATR freighter provides operators with a flexible, multipurpose cargo platform for transporting ULD, pallets, bulk freight or both.

The LCD conversion is available for both ATR 42 and ATR 72.

The conversion involves completely stripping standard furnishings and adding on specific cargo equipment (9 g stop net, floor reinforcement, class E cabin, light or structural linings, window plugs).
The gross usable volume is 56 m3 for the ATR 42 and up to 75.5 m3 for the ATR 72 model.
