ATR Quick Change

To meet the increasing worldwide demand of cargo and express mail markets, ATR proposes the Quick Change concept. The aim is to allow operators to supplement their passenger operations with freight flights.

To fully comply with cargo market requirements, ATR aircraft are equipped as standard with a substantially large cargo door of 50” (1.27 m) in width and 60” (1.52 m) height. The containerized freight loading is made easy by the low door sill height located on an average at 4 ft (1.2 m).

In Quick Change configuration, the ATR cabin is equipped with smoke detectors and other modifications required by the certification for full freight operations.

The configuration change on the ATR 42 is very easy and rapid. It takes 30 minutes to convert the aircraft, and install the cargo loading system and the containers. The same tasks require 45 minutes on the ATR 72.

Each optimized container has 2.8 m3 (99 cu.ft) of usable volume and its maximum net payload is 435 kg (960lb).
